This year, the history of the Belle Arti Prize will be celebrated with Le Belle Arti, an exhibition featuring all the past winners of the Belle Arti Prize. Tunni Kraus (VIC) 2016, Tony Lloyd (VIC) 2014, Karen Black (Qld) 2013, Marie Hagerty (ACT) 2012, 2011, Lewis Miller (VIC) 2010 and Jacqui Stockdale (VIC) 2009 will be coming together in presenting new works alongside their original 35 x 35cm winning canvas.

Le Belle Arti promises to be an inspirational and exciting show and one to be marked in the calendar. By applauding those winners of the past, the exhibition will celebrate the ongoing partnership between Chapman and Bailey and P.E.R Belle Arti Linen, the history of the Prize and the quality art materials they promote, the artists evolving practice, and Chapman and Bailey’s continuing commitment to the Victorian and wider Australian art community.

2014 Belle Arti Prize Call For Entries!

The Belle Arti Prize 2014 Exhibition will be held at the fantastic Chapman & Bailey Melbourne Gallery space located at 350 Johnston St, Abbotsford.

Over 250 entries from across Australia were received for the 2013 Belle Arti Chapman Bailey Art Prize. The result was a floor to ceiling contemporary salon hang, and a veritable world of multiple artistic visions.This year we hope for just as big a snap shot of the richness and diversity of arts practice in Australia. All entrants will be given an identical 35 x 35cm canvas, a limited time frame, and total creative carte blanche.

The award is a $5000 acquisitive prize. Judges to be announced. Previous winners of the Belle Arti Chapman Bailey Prize are Jackie Stockdale 2009, Lewis Miller 2010, Marie Hagerty 2011/2012 and Karen Black 2013.

Opening and announcement of the 2014 winner Tuesday 25th November. The 2014 Belle Arti Prize Exhibition will  be held at Chapman & Bailey Artspace, 350 Johnston Street Abbotsford. 

HOW TO ENTER

PART 1 (PAY YOUR ENTRY FEE & GET YOUR 35 X 35CM BELLE ARTI LINEN STRETCHED CANVAS)

This can be done 2 ways:

A. Collect your Belle Arti stretched linen canvas from participating stores between Monday 18 August and 5.00pm Friday 7 November 2014. Entry is  $50 (including gst). Go to participating stores on the Belle Arti Prize website menu for a list of participating stores.

OR

B. Have a canvas sent to you. If you fall outside of these pick up points you can pay the $50 entry payment (plus additional postage & handling fee) via the internet and have your free stretched linen canvas posted to you.

(Note: No further canvases will be sent out after 31 October, or can be collected from art shops after 5.00pm Friday7 November 2014)

Then get creative! You have until 10th November to complete you masterpiece


PART 2. Register Once You Have Finished Your Artwork

When you have finished your artwork go to www.chapmanbailey.com.au to register your finished artwork for hanging in the Belle Arti Prize Exhibition and for a chance to win $5000 in our Belle Arti Prize acquisitive prize. This must be done by Monday 10th November. No late or unregistered entries accepted. Please Note: When you register you will be emailed a 4 digit registration number which you must write on the sticker on the back or your canvas entry. If you do not enter this registration number on the back of your canvas your work will not be able to be hung in the Belle Arti Prize 2014 Exhibition.


PART 3. Deliver Your Artwork

Works must be delivered to the Chapman & Bailey Gallery between 10 – 15  November, 11am – 4pm in person, by courier or by post. No late entries accepted.

Belle Arti Prize Exhibition Opening Celebration and Winner Announcement will be held on the 11th December 2013, 6-8pm.

The Belle Arti Prize Entry Canvas is a professional quality linen canvas, stretched by hand with Italian Belle Arti primed/sized linen on to a high quality traditional artist stretcher. A great opportunity to experience the difference beautiful products can make.

Entrants have 3 choices of entry canvas. If you do not choose we will send you an Universal Primed Stretched Canvas, suitable for all mediums.

  • Universal Primed Stretched Canvas (suitable for all mediums) or
  • Oil Primed Stretched Canvas (suitable for oil painting, not acrylic painting) or
  • Clear Sized Stretched Canvas (Not primed. Sized only -not white. Linen surface suitable for any medium)
